Closed-cell spray foam is a highly efficient insulation with aged R‑values >7.5 HFO per inch. Its millions of tiny closed cells trap a non-ozone-depleting blowing agent, boosting thermal performance and creating an inherent air barrier with low moisture vapor permeability and strong water resistance. At about 2 lb/ft³, medium-density closed-cell foam adds shear and racking strength to walls. Properly installed, it can cut energy use up to 45%. By sealing holes, cracks, and gaps, two inches of closed-cell spray foam minimizes air infiltration/exfiltration, convection, conduction, and solar-driven moisture, reducing risk of moisture damage and related problems.
